The Grolla Quarry

“We bring the earth’s treasure to light”

This phrase summarizes what the company has been doing every day in the Cornedo Vicentino quarry for three generations. It is a continuous discovery of what nature has produced over time, through the passing centuries: not just an exceptional material, but an extraordinary heritage of memory, a key to interpreting the transformations, history, and changes that have affected the territory.

“Cava Grolla”: an evocative place where one perceives how small we are in the face of nature, passing through history; a difficult and sometimes hostile context that conveys a clear message of how only hard work, labor, and expertise allow us to best enhance what nature itself gives us and makes available to us.

In Cornedo Vicentino, time has left evident traces through a rich and complex stratigraphy of the soil that begins from very far away, in the Middle Eocene, the period to which the formation of Grolla hard limestone is traced.

All the activity of Marmi Faedo – Faba Marmi originates from the quarry, and it is precisely here that the company’s maximum production effort is concentrated; only perfect management of this source of supply allows for the planning of continuous, diversified activity that can satisfy today’s needs while simultaneously looking to the future, development prospects, and site modifications.

Certified quality Unique technical characteristics

The uniqueness of Grolla hard limestone lies in its exceptional physical-mechanical qualities, all of which are strictly certified.

Grolla is a metamorphic rock consisting of 98% calcium carbonate.

Thanks to its low water absorption coefficient and good resistance to atmospheric agents, it is suitable for outdoor installation even in difficult climatic zones and is not subject to sea salt attacks that could damage the material.

Reduced water absorption, resistance to aging due to the presence of SO₂ in humid environments, chemical resistance to pool salts (Class UA), and to the crystallization of sea salts guarantee Grolla high stability and durability over time.

Its excellent performance in terms of resistance to abrasion, bending, and compression also makes it particularly suitable for flooring and facade cladding.

Grolla hard limestone is extremely versatile, lends itself to any type of surface processing, and is available in colors ranging from beige to intense pink, including various shades of gray.

Grolla is able to offer architects and designers worldwide a wide range of creative possibilities, both in terms of the tactile feel of the surfaces and in terms of refined color combinations.

A historic limestone, as evidenced by various works, yet highly contemporary, which today finds application in many projects of significant architectural prestige.
